About.

Off of the paved county roads and on to the gravel kissed back-roads of Cleveland County , you'll find multi-instrumentalist and Singer-Songwriter Tommy Perkins. A member of the Songwriter Association of Norman, Perkins' originally resided as the drummer and a founding member of  Oklahoma City based rock band Radial Angel. Formed in 1999, The band quickly started gaining attention and airplay in OKC and soon to follow national airplay with their style of rock comprised of heavy guitars, thundering beats, topped off with gritty- yet smooth vocals provided by Jared Taber(lead singer/guitarist). The band soon went on to release several national singles while still an independent band charting on the national christian music charts, as well as being voted “Pick of the Litter” in HM Magazine in September of 2004 by Doug Van Pelt.

At the age of 18, Perkins and the band penned a major label deal with Warner Bros Christian division out of Nashville, TN, becoming label mates with the likes of Sixpence None The Richer, and Chevelle just to name a couple. The biggest tour Radial Angel found themselves on was the Acquire the Fire Tour in 2004, playing in front of thousands in arenas alongside bands like Skillet and Kutless and many others.

In 2006, Perkins left the band to pursue a career in nursing. Following graduation from college, Perkins was involved in playing drums/bass/guitar at numerous churches in the OKC metro area. A few years later, his focal point landed back onto songwriting and producing his own demos.

We all have struggles, and that certainly rings true to Perkins. Having been diagnosed at the age of 5 years old with a crippling auto-immune disease, called Rheumatoid Arthritis, life has often been an uphill battle. His “push through” attitude is what has enabled him to accomplish all that he has thus far, and against all odds, is still fighting it every day. Soon following graduating from College, Perkins had to undergo a bilateral total hip replacement at just 24 years of age. He was able to return to his career in nursing after recovering from both surgeries, until developing a bone marrow infection which required multiple surgeries ultimately landed him disabled and unable to do a lot of things. Fighting through daily struggles, music and family have become the anchors to the ripples on the surface of daily life for Perkins.

2018 marked the first solo EP from Tommy Perkins, entitled, “Offerings and Confessions,” a short and raw EP focusing on the Christian roots that he was raised on and was involved in with Radial Angel. The releases since then have returned to the country uprising that Perkins had growing up in the small Oklahoman town of Etowah.

Currently, Perkins is writing and recording for some releases to be coming soon, and hopefully you’ll be able to catch him at some upcoming shows whether with him or Radial Angel.
